RE: Campground in Kalamazoo, MI
Thank you for the idea about Fort Custer which I just checked on. Unfortunately, the night we need to sleep is Saturday, July 12th which the park has a 2 night minimum stay. Any other ideas, along the way??? This is about the midpoint for us which is why we chose Kalamazoo. We are leaving Niagara Falls that morning and want to drive about 10 hours or so. Sunday morning we will be leaving for Minneapolis, Minnesota.
We don't need anything fantastic, just a shower (we would rather not even hook-up) and a place to sleep. We do however want safe and not a rest stop or something...
Thanks!
Campground in Kalamazoo, MI
We are planning the last leg of our summer RV trip and we need to stay over just one night in or near Kalamazoo. We will be traveling west on I-94. We don't need anything fancy, just a place to pull-in around 5-9 p.m., sleep, get a shower in the morning for the family, and head out. No need for firerings, etc.
Thanks!
Looking for web site that will track our road trip
Hi,
I have been looking for a good site that will allow me to track our road trip in July. I really like how MapQuest, yahoo maps, etc allow you to enter in multiple destinations but I want something that actually tracks our trip (possibly with GPS but I can manually enter information at stops along the way). I would also like to be able to upload photos and have friends be able to view them from the map (to see where the photo was taken). Any ideas???
Thanks!
RE: Why a Hybrid?
We went directly from tenting to our HTT and this will be our 3rd camping season in it. We started looking because we stopped camping (because of the trouble of set-up, no bathroom, etc.) when our first child was born and realized along the way that we missed it. We have 2 kids age 7 and 4 and two medium sized dogs.
We have plenty of TV for any TT or 5th wheel but we bought the HTT because we were more concerned with family space for those rainy days as opposed to beds. The open space in the HTT is just amazing compared to TTs. My DH has also commented on numerous occasions that there is no way he would have been able to back a much larger unit into some of the spaces we have had! Also with both tent ends (2 queen beds) the U dinette that turns into a queen bed and the sofa bed, we have so much room for others to join us for the weekends and room for the kids to bring friends!
Now the cons...we haven't had any leaks on this unit (KZ Coyote 23CMS) but we are always a bit nervous in the heavy rain...the what-if's of it. We also have found ourselves in a few noisy campgrounds and the HTT doesn't filter any of the "bad" noise. Our solution to that is to run the fan on the AC unit for some white noise which does drown out the outside noises. I also worry about the security of the tent ends...anyone could just rip off the velcro ends and be inside (although we haven't had a problem yet).
Overall I am very happy with our HTT and would do it again after our experience. We will keep this unit for several more years! Our next unit will likely be a Class c though, we miss being able to bring the boat along!
